Sabalo Jungle Village, Mountain View Tour starts from Sierpe. The adventure begins by crossing the Rio Sierpe. The local barge will transport the group across to the jungle road/trail that leads to Sabalo. The trip is suitable for all abilities. While traveling the road to Sabalo you will see beautiful vista views of the Sierpe & Terraba river valley. The tour to Sabalo is a four hour round trip journey.

Sabalo Tour and Waterfall Hike. The tour can be extended two hours and you will have the advantage of visiting the pristine waterfalls. (see Sabalo Falls tour description)

Drake Bay Overnight Tour. This tour is for the one who needs to do it all! The journey to Drake Bay is done all by back roads over the mountains. The trip will involve river crossings (five total) and depending on the weather it can be the most fun you have ever had getting dirty in the mud! Accommodations will be available for the well earned shower at the end of the day. Lunch & dinner will beprovided the first day and breakfast and lunch on the second day. While in Drake Bay you have the opportunity to experience the canopy tour (see description canopy tours) So sign up for an adventure to remember and lets get out and do it!

Corcovado National Parks are remote, pristine rain forest reserves that are unrivaled by any other parks in Costa Rica. The reserves harbor Jaguars, Tapir, Scarlet MaCaws, four types of monkeys, and many other rare species of animals and plants. There are excellent hiking trails provided for the adventurous. The mandatory professional guides will inform you of the animals and plants that unique to one of the most bio diverse places on earth. Sirena Park is further south of the reserve and is less visited by tourists. Sirena is worth the little extra to visit. The best part of the De Osa peninsula is visiting the real jungle with a day pass!

Rio Sierpe and Ocean Beaches Tour

Enjoy a boat ride down the Rio Sierpe and venture through the heart of the mangrove forest on your way to the pristine beaches at the river mouth. What a great family day tour. The beaches at the river mouth are only accessible by boat. A leisurely stroll down a beach that is seldom trod upon is something that is hard to find. Beach combing at its finest. Swim in the warm protected waters of the Boca bay area. We provide the snorkel gear and ice chests. Pack a lunch and beverages leave the rest to us. For those who choose not trouble with a lunch, $10 per person will cover all your hunger and thirsty needs.

Rio Chocauco and Rio Sierpe Tour

Rio Sierpe and Chocauco tour is great for bird watching and animal viewing. As stated above the tour travels up river to the east and then south west on the tributary Chocuaco. The foliage is more abundant and there are less people living along the rivers. This provides the chance to photograph animals, reptiles and birds close up. All types of monkeys, McCaws, iguanas, crocodiles and if you are really lucky, giant river otter, one of the rarest animals of Central America.

Snorkeling at Cano Island National Park is southern Costa Rica’s’ best location. The visit to Cano Island is 15 miles off shore the De Osa Peninsula. The Islands remote distance from the mainland has enabled it to be devoid of mammals. Lush trees and vegetation provide a sanctuary for multiple birds and reptiles. The waters surrounding the island team with fish and soft corals. The islands undisturbed terrain creates crystal blue water, excellent for viewing sea animals while snorkeling and diving. The park guide will inform you of the different types of fish, animals and plants that this protected island has to offer.

Zip Line Canopy Tours

The canopy tour is for the adventurous at heart. This adrenaline zip line tour offers 13 total platforms and 12 cables to soar amongst the tree tops. You will travel through primary and secondary rainforest. Platforms are located amongst some of the largest trees in Costa Rica. Many of these trees reach a height of 60 meters. The zip cables range in length from 190 meters to 450 meters. The tour will average 2 hours from start to finish. Age requirement is from 4 – 75 years old.

The canopy tour is only part of this tour package. You will also travel the Rio Sierpe. A 15 mile jungle river and mangrove journey to the Pacific Ocean. The mangroves located west of Sierpe represent 2% of the man-groves located in Costa Rica. Upon traveling through the Sierpe river mouth and into the ocean the 10 mile journey ends at Drake Bay wilderness area.

The journey to Drake Bay will provide you with an opportunity to see monkeys, crocodiles, McCaws, dolphins, sea turtles, and maybe even whales. When you visit this unique area of Costa Rica, nature and wild life are abundant.

Canopy tour Hacienda Baru

Hacienda Baru canopy tour is suited for all ages and ability. The canopy tour is located in an 815 acre wild life refuge. The reserve offers sanctuary to many different animals. Toucans, Peccary (wild pig) and three toe sloth, just to name a few. A netted butterfly garden and hatchery is available for a leisure self guided tour. There is a bountiful amount of butterflies to photograph.

Kayaking the modern way! High tech Hobiecat kayaks with pedal style propulsion. The pedal system allows for hands free operation. Explore the Rio Sierpe and the many tri-butaries that feed into it. The Rio Sierpe is a tidal influence river. Timing right you can venture up or down the river without even paddling or pedaling. These kayaks provide all the romance of a pedal boat with the efficiency of rudder steer system. The kayaks’ stealth allows you to get up close for photos of the ever present wildlife.

Your tour begins with a journey down the Rio Sierpe and winding through a mangrove estuary. The river boat ride offers many opportunities for photos of wildlife, Monkeys, birds, crocodiles, plants and trees. Once we arrive at the trail head to the remote, small jungle community of Sabalo, it will be a 45 minute walk to the waterfalls and swimming hole. The two tier over 80 feet tall waterfall is nestled amongst primary jungle trees hundreds of years old. You’ll be mystified by the size and beauty of these old trees that are neighbors along side this majestic waterfall. The hike provides a chance to see the symbiotic life of ants and tree. Another unique animal to this unspoiled area is the poison dart frogs. The water fall offers you a cool swim in its’ hidden pool. Jump in and take quick dip before starting the return trip.

Snorkel, Troll, Bottom Fish

A great way to take the everyone out for fun. Troll for inshore fish, Jack, Mackeral, Rainbow Runner and Rooster while traveling towards San Josecito. Once you arrive at the snorkeling area you can hike a short trail to the Rio Claro. We’ll stay for around two hours and then troll towards an area well known for tuna and bottom fishing for snapper. The Drake Bay and Cano Island waters are famous for the variety of dolphins, sea turtles and whales. Always a great chance for seeing them while trolling. This tour is suited for all to get an overall experience and feel for the ocean. Any edible fish caught are cleaned and iced for you to take and prepare for dinner!

Horseback Jungle Ride & Rio Chocauco Tour

The Chocauco Rio and horseback jungle ride is a tour to visit a beautiful waterfall and vista views. The adventure begins with a journey 7 kilometers up the Rio Sierpe and then 3 kilometers up the small tree canopy covered Rio Chocauco. The birds, reptiles and animals are more abundant for viewing than any other area. The Rio Chocauco is only navigatable by small boat. This keeps the everyday tour boats at bay. Upon arrival at the small family farm (Chocauco World) you’ll meet their mascot “Chepe” the Scarlet McCaw. Next we saddle up for a jungle trail ride to a mountain vista view and continue down into the waterfall valley. You will then wade in the waterfall pool and lunch is served under the shade of the surrounding trees. This is one journey that you want your camera in top working order. Great fun for the entire family!
